Dual-Purpose Detection Patrol Dog Course
A Jordanian National center of excellence that achieves international standards in all K9 related services.
Duration: 10-12 weeks (50 – 60 working days)

Pre-Requisites
- Physically fit
- Must be able to lift 40 kg
- Must be affiliated with K9 unit or association
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in working with K9
- Must be willing to accept wearing K9 biting clothing and equipment
- Must not possess a fear of dogs
Course Description
This course is designed to train the basic Dual-purpose patrol dog Handlers to be mission ready. Training will cover either patrol/ explosive detection or patrol/ narcotic detection; it will include theoretical and practical exercises with different scenarios. Upon completion, trainees must successfully pass the JNK9C K-9 Basic dual purpose K9 handlers’ certification.

- Identify K9’s body and instinctive drives

- Vigilance & caution and understanding the K9 behavior

- Handler protection by the K9
- Aggression control, how to control your K9 aggression
- Gun fire control, acclimate your K9 to gunfire and how to control his aggression to it
- Tracking people
- Equipment usage and care
- Muzzle work
- K9 Psychology
- Explosive or narcotic Detection principles
- Environmental issues that might affect the K9’s performance
- Storage of training aids
