Explosive Detection / Advance Course
Duration: 1 to 2 weeks (5 – 10 working days)
Students: Up to 10
Pre-Requisites
- Physically fit
- Must have completed a basic Explosive course from an accredited source
- Must have his/her assigned dog during course
- Must be affiliated with K9 unit or association
Course Description
This course is designed to train Explosive K9s and Handlers on explosive detection. Handlers and K9s are expected to be qualified with the basic Explosive K9 detection course. Training will include theoretical and practical exercises with different scenarios. Upon completion, trainees will be ready for real combat situations and /or real mission tasks (realistic scenarios).
Course Outline
- Introducing K9 to large quantities of explosives that would be encountered in mission areas
- Problem solving (K9 issues), Tactical deployment for all K9 capabilities.
- Roadside IED deployment (route clearing)
- Commercial Bus/Airplane interior and exterior techniques and under bus luggage scenarios
- VBIED scenarios
- Real life scenarios of missions conducted during deployments
